Guitar TuningUpdated: January 2nd, 2018

Created: 02/01/18

spreadsheet

The frequencies in row 3 are those calculated as the equal spacing of twelfths and are endemic to fretted guitars and pianos, although there is room for manoeuvrer on a piano as each string can be tuned.

In rows 6 and 7 the ratios and exact frequencies are shown for certain harmonic, primarily the quarters and thirds, plus some fifths. Even with the thirds and fourths you can see there is no proper alignment with any of the harmonics. It may be easier to settle the view with a graph: to be done ??

You can see that the closet is the 1 + 1/2 harmonic E is 329.63 v 330 whereas G is 392 v 375
As G is the open note of the string it can be tuned alternatively.
